IMGP06702011 Trip Report

After nearly one year of praying, planning, and organizing, the team arrived in Donetsk, Ukraine on June 4th.  Kent, Nancy, Matt, Reagan, Lisa, Jennifer, Kylie, Christi, Luis, Amanda, Leslie and Joe began their mission to minister and show the love of God to the children at the Karlovka Orphanage and the Ukrainian Children’s Heart Hospital.   The idea for this trip began after an EEM Dinner Banquet; send a team of Christians to Ukraine to support the work of the local Churches.  With the help of EEM and a Donetsk Church, doors were opened at both locations, while God arranged the team members.

At the Orphanage the team taught moral lessons using the Bible and engaged the children in arts and crafts that supported the lessons.  Also, the children were challenged with outdoor team building activities and sports.  With generous financial support the team was able to provide shoes, shorts, shirts, and personal items for the children.  Dry erase boards, mechanical items, and other supplies needed for repairs and maintenance on the facility were provided.  In addition, we painted in a prayer room for the children.  The children and staff received Bibles provided by EEM.  Amid a tearful good-bye, the children and staff asked the team to return.

At the hospital the team provided medical supplies, medicine, children’s story books and Bibles (supplied by EEM).  The staff, patients, and families truly saw the love of God shown to them by a group of Texas Christians.
